Danger Coffee is not vacuum sealed, just a regular bag seal, so it's normal to have air in the bags.

The reason you smell coffee while the bags are completely sealed is the one-way valve coffee bags have. There is a one-way valve so that Co2 can release from the freshly roasted beans, otherwise the bag would expand and burst over time.

This valve also lets coffee aroma out, so that is why you can smell it.

It's a one-way valve so that no air can get into the bag, which preserves the coffee's freshness until you open it.
